Project Overview

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) will begin work on the Pali Highway – Street Lighting from Vineyard Boulevard to Kamehameha Highway and Resurfacing from Waokanaka Street to Kamehameha Highway on Dec. 15, 2017. This first project will repair or replace street lights from Vineyard Boulevard to Kamehameha Highway and will repave Pali Highway from Waokanaka Street to Kamehameha Highway—including the parallel Waokanaka Street and the Pali Highway/Waokanaka Street intersection—and is estimated to be completed in Winter 2019.

The Pali Highway improvement schedule was coordinated with the Likelike Highway Resurfacing from School Street to Emmeline Place, scheduled to be completed in March 2018, and the City and County of Honolulu’s Dowsett Highlands Relief Sewer project in order to minimize impacts to the traveling public.

The City’s Dowsett Highlands Relief Sewer project will result in the installation of a new sewer main along Dowsett Avenue, Pali Highway, and Nuuanu Avenue. HDOT’s first Pali Highway improvement project will repurpose the existing median on Pali Highway as construction laneage for both the Pali Highway improvements and the relief sewer project. A second project, Pali Highway Resurfacing – Vineyard Boulevard to Waokanaka Street, will resurface Pali Highway from Vineyard Boulevard to Waokanaka Street as well as bring associated safety features to current standards.
